Alumni Spotlight: Andy Nelson

By: Andy Nelson, PERIMETER SCHOOL alum

We recently caught up with several of our Perimeter School alumni, and we are excited to share with you how Perimeter School has influenced their stories and how God is using them for kingdom impact.

Our next alumni spotlight is Andy Nelson, Perimeter School Class of 1999.

What do you do? Where do you live?

I live and work at a place called Eagle Ranch, where I serve as the Director of Spiritual Life. Eagle Ranch is a residential program for kids and teens in crisis in Chestnut Mountain, GA.

How Did your time at Perimeter School influencE who you are and what you do today?

I have positive memories with wonderful and godly teachers, leaders, parents, and peers.

I think the thing that stands out most to me is the foundation that Perimeter School laid in those formative years. I still rely on that biblical foundation in my life.

"If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know . . .”

. . . all the books of the Bible in order and be able to spell them correctly. I know that because we had to learn that! Also, I probably wouldn’t value Christian education for my children like I do now, if it weren’t for Perimeter School.

In what ways is the work you are doing now spiritually and culturally Significant?

I am working with kids and families in crisis, helping to make life better for their families. In that way, I think we are trying to impact families with the gospel for positive renewal. I could talk about this all day!

My role at Eagle Ranch is a combination of caring for the spiritual needs of the kids and families in our program and the pastoral needs of our staff. This includes evangelism, discipleship, teaching, and pastoral care. In particular, I have a passion for impacting the next generation for the gospel, and my career has been centered around discipling young people.
