Alumni Spotlight: Preston Little
By: PRESTON LITTLE, PERIMETER SCHOOL alum
We recently caught up with several of our Perimeter School alumni, and we are excited to share with you how Perimeter School has influenced their stories and how God is using them for kingdom impact.
Our next alumni spotlight is Preston Little, Perimeter School Class of 2011, son of Elementary School Principal Rebecca Little.
What do you do? Where do you live?
I live in Birmingham, Alabama where I work as a video director and producer for my video production company First Avenue Productions.
How Did your time at Perimeter School influencE who you are and what you do today?
I look back on my time at Perimeter School and realize the value of the friendships I created. Perimeter School fostered community unlike other schools and created an environment where I could learn and grow with friends who I could trust.
Because of this solid foundation of community, I have always felt supported, which has led to the start of my own business. I knew that I would always have friends who I could lean on.
"If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know . . .”
If it weren't for Perimeter School I wouldn't know the value of mentorship. I had a lot of my friends' parents pour into me while attending Perimeter School and after I graduated. The value of mentorship from older and wiser Christian men and women is very important to the growth of any individual.
Because of MY mentors, my spiritual journey was strengthened. I had men and women to look up to and to model my life after.
In what ways is the work you are doing now spiritually and culturally Significant?
Movies and videos are changing the world every day. Most movies are documentations of the current culture. If you watch movies from different decades, you are able to gain insight into the culture of that decade and the same goes for different regions of the world.
What I've learned as a Christian filmmaker is living out the fruits of the Spirit, speaking truth, and striving to be like Jesus in the ways that I run my business, talk to clients, and treat my employees on and off set … that is where I can make spiritual impact. I have learned that cultivating loving relationships with people who do not believe in Christ and living out the Truth as best as I can around them leads to spiritual conversations.
