Consistency with the Basics

By: Brendon O’Dowd, head of school

What does it take to make a school successful? I would say the answer to that question, among many things, is consistency with the basics.

Consistency with the Basics

Schools can be sidetracked by the latest technique, technological upgrade, or best curriculum. And while many of these things are right and good, we can forget some of the critical elements that make a school successful.

At Perimeter School, we want to educate students to glorify God and pursue kingdom flourishing. This means that we focus on what is important in God's kingdom, starting with relationships. How we relate to and with other people is a critical element to a thriving society, and Perimeter School, as a Christian school, should be one of the best sources for helping students develop God-honoring relationships with all people.

Successful schools also teach the skills and provide opportunities to practice critical thinking and effective communication with others. I believe this is what the Bible calls "wisdom," and Perimeter School understands that being wise begins with a healthy fear of the Lord.

Students, parents, teachers, and the church must all work together to ensure we have consistency with these basics. Let's commit to this year being one where we become more consistent with the basics of the kingdom.
