How God Knits Our Classes Together

By: Kimberly Blair, Perimeter School Teacher

It always amazes me how God knits our classes together! Having my own six children placed in just the right classes at Perimeter School over the years was such a blessing to our family, as we all worked together to shepherd the hearts of my children.

As a teacher here at Perimeter School, I have realized the “secret!” Teachers and administrators carefully pray over the list of students and take into consideration the individual giftings of each teacher when considering where a student would best fit for the school year. And Perimeter School takes this responsibility seriously!

God’s sovereignty over each class placement

As I reflect on the 2020-2021 school year, I realize that God gave me just the right class last year … once again! For example, I understood how to better serve an adopted student in my class thanks to my own experience with my three adopted children. I was able to work closely with his parents to implement plans to help him succeed, especially when consequences were required.

In another case, I was able to closely connect with one student whose family speaks Mandarin at home. Having adopted two older Chinese boys a few years back, I was able to see this student was not struggling with his reading abilities as much as he struggled with knowing the English word for common things. After sharing the definition of several words, he began to feel comfortable asking me “what’s that mean?” any time we were reading. Watching him light up and begin to excel at comprehension was such a joy.

In my 15 years of teaching here at Perimeter School, there have been so many examples of wonderful classroom connections.

I am always in awe of God’s sovereignty over each class placement and the way my class seems like a sweet little family after just a few weeks.

As we pray over this new school year, I am grateful that my classroom (and every Perimeter School classroom!) has been carefully brought together, and I look forward to seeing how God uses the fourth wall of Perimeter School to support our covenant families.
