"There's No Place Like Home"

At Perimeter School, we strive to give our students a feast of opportunities to explore and develop the gifts and talents that God has given them.

This Thursday and Friday, Perimeter School Drama will present The Wizard of Oz.

We asked the cast and crew to share their thoughts about this story, working on the show, and how God is using them in this production. We are excited to share their answers with you!

What does the story of the wizard of oz mean to you?

MADELINE SHAIA (6th Grade, Ensemble):The Wizard of Oz is a story about finding your way back home!”

SADIE SCHOLEN (7th Grade, Ensemble):The Wizard of Oz is about a girl who goes on a big fun adventure just to realize that all she really needs is her family.”

COLTER LANDON (8th Grade, Tin Man):The Wizard of Oz means a lot to me because it shows me that nothing is impossible.”

What has being a part of perimeter SCHOOL drama been like for you?

ELLA HERRON (8th Grade, Ensemble): “It’s been a big learning experience for me. It’s like a home away from home. I’ve made so many friendships I otherwise wouldn’t have made.”

HARRISON ADAMS (8th Grade, Tech Crew): “The experience has been amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to branch out and try something new.”

JULIA ALLEN (8th Grade, Ensemble): “Being in drama has grown my confidence on stage and my ability to work with others.”

ELLE GRUBBS (8th Grade, Ensemble): “Being a part of Perimeter School Drama has been such a blessing. I have loved working together as a group to make this production!”

what have you learned from working on this show?

LUKE THOMAS (7th Grade, Ensemble): “One thing I’ve learned is how much training it takes to put on a good show. I thought it was just a little bit. But I like it because we can learn so much about other people!”

AVA TOWNSEND (7th Grade, Ensemble): “I have learned that even if you mess up, it is okay. There are always more ways to make your performance better.”

EDISON BLISSETT (6th Grade, Tech Crew): “It takes time and is not as easy as you’d think.”

What has been your favorite part of working on this show?

RILEY LANDON (8th Grade, Ensemble): “It’s been great seeing the play coming together so well, from thinking we aren’t very prepared to it all coming together to look amazing!”

MADELINE SHAIA (6th Grade, Ensemble): “Watching Emily do her Wicked Witch laugh!”

ELLIE REYNOLDS (8th Grade, Ensemble): “My favorite part has been being a jitterbug in the play. I think it is definitely going to be awesome.”

DYLAN CANTRELL (6th Grade, Ensemble): “My favorite part of working on the show is all of the practices.”

What part of the show are you most excited for audiences to see?

SCOTTIE SANDERS (6th Grade, Ensemble): “My favorite part of the show is the jitterbug dance. It was fun to learn and it gets better each time we do it. I’m sure the people watching will enjoy the dance as much as I do!”

BEN DURRENCE (8th Grade, Ensemble): “I am excited for audiences to see Munchkinland, as it gives the younger kids the spotlight. They have their role nearly perfected!”

KATE CANTRELL (8th Grade, Ensemble): “I’m excited for people to see the Emerald City gates because it’s so cool how it all came together.”

Why should people come to see The wizard of oz?

AZALEE MILLER (8th Grade, Ensemble): “We have literally worked day and night doing rehearsals!”

ISABELLA LORIGO (8th Grade, Glinda): “People should come to see The Wizard of Oz to see the amazing costumes and terrific set design, as well as the spectacular actors and actresses!”

REAGAN RASH (8th Grade, Ensemble): “People should come to see The Wizard of Oz because of the skilled cast and crew who have been working tirelessly to perform to the best of their ability!”
