Let’s prayerfully reaffirm our desire to live out this commitment together.

By: Jeremy Case, HEAD OF SCHOOL

It’s re-enrollment time - an important opportunity to refocus our attention on the vital mission we’re engaged in together and ready our hearts for the year ahead. Each year we intentionally ask our families to recommit to Perimeter School’s covenantal philosophy and practice of Christian education. The re-enrollment process is a meaningful opportunity to renew our covenant commitment and rejoice in what God continues to do in and through our covenant family. While completing the online forms is essential to secure your student’s placement for next year, your continued commitment to our mission is paramount to fulfilling our covenant calling together.

Why Covenant?

The body of Christ shares the privilege and responsibility of raising up the next generation:

“He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.”

Psalm 78:5-7

This covenant calling centers on the family but comes in the context of the corporate body of God’s covenant people. Our philosophy of education is rooted in the belief that the shared, covenantal roles of the home, school, and church working together creates the best atmosphere for nurturing children. This belief is what makes us more than just a Christian school - and being more requires more of each of us.

To faithfully live out our covenant calling together, we must individually affirm both the commitment it requires but also the blessing it creates.

YES, COVENANT REQUIRES COMMITMENT

  • A commitment to biblical parenting in our homes

  • A commitment to the educational philosophy of Perimeter School

  • A commitment to intentional participation in the covenant community

  • A commitment to faithful partnership with the covenant family

BUT COVENANT ALSO CREATES COMMUNITY

  • A community who cares for one another and seeks to bind up the brokenhearted among us

  • A community who celebrates God’s faithfulness and provision together

  • A community that calls us and our children to believe and live the gospel

  • A community that cultivates fellowship and joy as we grow and belong together

Together, as we educate and disciple our children, let us proclaim the “glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders that He has done” so that they should set their hope in Him. Our hope in God’s promise and provision is young men and women who live covenantally in the world with both confidence and compassion to confront and claim the culture for the kingdom.

If our homes, church, and school are to be what Psalm 78 says, we must steward well all of the privileges and responsibilities of a covenant, Christian education. Each year there will be a danger that we’ll become too tired of the commitment it requires or too apathetic to the blessing it produces.

Let’s spend some time to prayerfully reaffirm our desire to live out this commitment together. Will you join me this week in praying that God will continue to deepen and strengthen our covenant family as we each reaffirm our commitment to rely upon God to educate and disciple our children together?

THE COVENANT COMMUNITY PLEDGE

As a professed member of the covenant family of Perimeter School and acknowledging my role as the primary educator of my children, I hereby recognize my inadequacy to raise up covenant children alone. I pledge with this community to be actively present, vulnerable, teachable, and prayerful. I promise to pursue opportunities made available by Perimeter School to equip and bring all of us to greater maturity in Christ. I view this commitment not as a burden, but as a privilege to take advantage of these critical years of growth and learning in our children. This pledge expresses the desire of my heart, and I depend on Him for strength and joy in its fulfillment.

I pray it’s with joyful anticipation that you begin the re-enrollment process this year and that we’ll all be blessed and refreshed as we pause to prayerfully refocus and ready ourselves for another year of educating and discipling our children covenantally.

It’s worthy of our labor and our prayer!

Perimeter School parents, re-enrollment is now open on Family Portal. Please check your inbox for an email that invites you to re-enroll for the 2020 - 2021 school year.
