Creating Margin
By: Brendon O’Dowd, head of school
Thank you for a wonderful school year. I have been encouraged by all the good that occurs daily at our school. Your support and prayers are genuine and heartwarming.
Though often overused, the phrase “Where has the time gone?” seems to paint an accurate picture of the school year. At the spring campus meeting, I spoke about the importance of creating margin in our lives because time is so elusive. We do our best to plan for our neighbors to come over for a barbeque or take a special trip on our bucket list, but the urgent tasks of each day overcome what we have prioritized.
As we head into the summer, I am reminded that there is something that does not change. Rather, there is someone who cannot be overcome by circumstances or even darkness. John 1:5 tells us that the “light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” May we all prioritize this truth when we struggle with busyness as well as when we enjoy a slower pace of life.
This summer, let’s prioritize time to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation and the grandeur of the Living Word.
We have a responsibility to engage in dialogue with love at the forefront.
Our veterans are defenders. They matter to us because they served so gratefully!
Today, as ballots are cast and votes are counted, it's important to remember who we – as the body of Christ – truly are. Because if we are in Christ, while we may live in a divided world, we're never truly a divided people.
Preparing a child for life’s road is challenging, but it's a vital part of their growth.
God shows up in our messy places and transforms ordinary moments into holy ones.
