God's Love Letter
By: Debbie Breyman, Director of Curriculum
“The B-I-B-L-E,
Yes, that’s the book for me,
I stand alone on the Word of God,
The B-I-B-L-E.”
As a four-year-old child in my Sunday School class, I remember singing at the top of my lungs about this heavy, black book that my parents told me was incredibly special. “The Bible,” the “Holy Scriptures,” “God’s Word,” “The Truth,” “The Sword,” and “God’s Love Letter,” all referencing something tangible that we as Christ followers try to cling to as we journey through the twisty, scary, unpredictable road of life.
This powerful, observable book allows us to experience and know an invisible, mysterious, unfathomable, infinite, omnipotent, eternal God who wants to have a personal relationship with us. That is mind-boggling.
This book is powerful, comforting, convicting, and alive; yet, it is so easy to neglect, abuse, and misuse.
As believers, we know that this precious book contains the truth about who God is, who we are, and how we can have a relationship with Him. It contains His story, from His perspective.
As we become saturated with God’s Word, the Holy Spirit works in us, conforming us to the image of our beautiful Savior, which at times is painful but ultimately beautiful and rewarding. We know as Christian parents, God has commanded us to teach and train our children in the scriptures as well; however, in this culture, that is an incredibly challenging undertaking.
Building a firm foundation
At Perimeter School, we are here to partner with you in this endeavor. We desire for Bible teaching to ground our students firmly and comprehensively in the stories and doctrines of God’s Word, examining God’s revealed plan of redemption through history and building a firm foundation for life and obedience to God. The study of the Bible in our school sets the tone for having a biblical worldview in all other subjects.
Our prayer and vision are that while your child attends Perimeter School, they will grow in reading and understanding scripture, enhancing their love and commitment to God and prompting them to lovingly serve others as they prepare for life now and the road ahead.
The Bible is…
“Breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
(2 Timothy 3:16)
“a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
(Psalm 119:105)
“Living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
(Hebrews 4:12-14)
“…perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.”
(Psalm 19:7-11)
Jesus came in the still and calm of the night.
