Teacher Appreciation Week

By: Perimeter School ROOM PARENTS

This week (May 2-6) is National Teacher Appreciation Week! We are so thankful for each and every teacher we have here at Perimeter School and are continually blessed by the many ways they invest in the lives of our students and families.

We are excited to highlight what a few of our room parents have to say about our amazing teachers!

LOWER ELEMENTARY

VANESSA WILLARD (KINDERGARTEN):

“Mrs. Willard has been such a blessing to our daughter and to her whole class! She is so gentle with them and always points them towards Jesus. She has been wonderful in understanding our child’s specific needs - understanding who God has made her to be and always trying to reach her heart.”

VICKERY CALLAWAY (GRADE 1):

“Mrs. Callaway is such a BLESSING and asset to Perimeter School! I cannot express how grateful our family is to have had her as one of our teachers this year. She is so full of love, joy, patience, kindness - well really ALL of the fruits of the Spirit. We absolutely adore Mrs. Callaway, and she truly is an incredible, awesome teacher and friend.”

KIMBERLY BLAIR (GRADE 1):

“Mrs. Blair has been such a gift to both students and parents this year. Not only is she an excellent educator, but she also pours intentionally into the hearts of these kids. She sets high expectations, and the children rise to the challenge. She is incredibly empathetic and kind, and the students feel so loved. As parents, we know that she is working hard to truly understand each child so that regardless of their learning style, they will develop to the best of their potential. She makes school fun and the kids in her class love to learn. She has been a Perimeter School treasure for so many years, and we are grateful for her dedication to this school.”

TRACY ALLEN (GRADE 2):

“Mrs. Allen has provided the most creative learning environment for our second grade students. From ‘Mama Ecco’ to the ‘Smart Cookie’ and everything in between, she made learning so fun this year. Her Christmas gift to the students was a free homework pass and a no shoe day … she clearly knows the way to a second grader’s heart. Thank you for an incredible year of unconditional love and academic learning! We love you, Mrs. Allen!”

EILEEN KONIGSBERG (GRADE 2):

“Mrs. K. was the exact teacher our daughter needed for second grade - only God could have planned that! The best thing about being room parents with Mrs. K. is that if we need a laugh to break the ice with the group, she can provide it. We love her stories, but we love more how she continually points to the Lord to give Him the glory in all things. She has a love for the kids and challenges them in all facets of their education, most importantly in growing their faith in an almighty God that loves them and sent His Son to die for them.”

Upper elementary

ELLIE GIRAGE (GRADE 3):

“Mrs. Girage, thank you for loving our kids and teaching them not only what they need to learn in third grade but more importantly teaching them about their Savior. You have focused a great deal of time and energy into helping them understand and hide God’s Word into their hearts. Thank you for making it real to them and caring deeply for their souls. Thank you for coming alongside us as parents in this way. We are grateful!”

JILL PALMER (GRADE 4):

“Mrs. Palmer is a treasure! She truly loves each of her students and is always gracious and patient. She desires the best for them both academically and spiritually.”

ERICA PIFER (GRADE 5):

Mrs. Pifer is a true blessing to our girls. She has not only provided an exceptional year of academics, but she has guided her class with the grace and fortitude of a strong Christian woman. She has the utmost respect from all of her students and their parents. We love and appreciate her easy-going nature and fun-loving spirit. We will miss her dearly at the end of this year.”

KIM THOMPSON (GRADE 5):

“We have absolutely LOVED having Mrs. Thompson this year! She has been such a sweet source of wisdom and encouragement for our family. We are so thankful for the way she intentionally served the children, prayed for them, and guided them this year.”

Middle school

SCOTT HUDSON (GRADE 6):

“When I think of Mr. Hudson, I think of a quiet and steady leader. He simply has a calming presence that the students pick up on and that is contagious. Although, get him talking about the Braves and you might see a different side of him! Go Braves!”

KAY LEE (GRADE 6):

“Mrs. Lee has been such a blessing to all of her students and families this year. She teaches literature in a way that makes even reluctant readers love stories. Beyond that, she is always kind, encouraging, and supportive of each of her students. We are so grateful to have been in her homeroom this year!”

MEREDITH BOWMAN (GRADE 7):

“Mrs. Bowman is one of the best teachers we’ve ever had! She has had such an amazing impact on the lives of the kids in her classes this year! She is sweet, empathetic, and has a youthful presence that draws her students in. Some of our favorite stories to hear about are how she will read out loud to her class using character voices, props, different sounds around the room, etc. in order to engage her students and draw them in. We have appreciated how approachable she is and how much she cares about the lives of each student and his/her family. Seventh grade is hard, and she has walked hand-in-hand with us all.”

JULIE DURRENCE (GRADE 7):

“There is so much that can be said about Julie Durrence, but what I love most is how she’s always coming up with ways to make learning fun and how well she loves her students! On numerous occasions this school year, we have heard stories about songs or dances the kids learned in math class. They all loved it! Thank you, Julie, for being YOU!”

ANSLEY BONAVENTURE (GRADE 8):

“We have known Mrs. Bonaventure since she was in college, so we were thrilled that our daughter would be in her class this year. According to her, Mrs. Bonaventure started the year ‘strict’ and set her expectations as she settled into this new role as a teacher in middle school, but as the year has gone on, she has gone deep with the students, becoming one of her ‘favorite teachers because she cares for me and wants to spend time with me.’ She developed that very delicate balance of love and care for the students while at the same time maintaining her role as teacher, mentor, and authority in their lives. It’s hard to do, but it didn’t take her long. Our daughter leaves Perimeter School with a firm foundation of respect and love for her language arts and homeroom teacher.”
