Moving Forward With Faith

In the midst of these trying and uncertain times, let us turn our hearts and the hearts of our children toward the trustworthiness of our sovereign Savior and King who rules and reigns over all things. As we forge into remote working and learning for everyone in our home, let us leverage this opportunity to lean into the timeless truth of Scripture and the foundations of Perimeter School to strengthen our families and shepherd our children during a time of shifting sands.
Moving Forward in Love
We hope you’ll find new ways to deepen your relationships together. Let’s be honest. Having everyone at home creates its own challenges - opportunities for me to lose my temper with extra complaining, boredom, and sibling spats - but let’s choose to move forward with faith to focus on loving one another well as we live together a little more closely.
Moving Forward to Learn
We hope you’ll find ways to love to learn together. You and your students have the rare gift of extra time. Let’s choose to explore enriching topics and interests together.
Moving Forward to Serve
We hope you’ll find ways to learn to serve together. During the need for social distancing, let’s choose to draw close to the needs of those around us. You family can help support our local co-ops with food to meet critical needs and ensure families have food in their homes during these especially challenging times.
Click here for a list of vitally needed supplies and local co-op locations.
As we love, learn, and serve together, let’s move forward with faith and maintain our covenant life together even while we’re apart for this season.
Perimeter School is praying for you and trusting in God’s gracious provision and eternal promises. Please be encouraged by the wisdom from the Perimeter Church Shepherding Department below:
“Home: But Not Alone!”
A Message From the Perimeter Church Shepherding Department
Usually we have time to think about it before the kids are home for an extended time or both spouses are off the road or you are alone as a single. “Where is Camp All American when you need it!”
This is unplanned family time. It has been forced upon you.
You are home; but not alone. The world, flesh, and devil will want to come home with all of that and create relational strife as well as inner turmoil.
What to do? We don’t have all the answers, but these may help spur your thinking.
Plan the day the night before. What time will you get up? Start with prayer. Maybe a short reading in the Word. Ask to not be led to temptation but to have joy and bless people.
Start the day with an encouraging word to one another.
Take time fixing meals together if you are a family. Keep the alcohol to a minimum.
Try not to OD on TV/Cable Internet. Limit it to a few hours a day. Maybe go to a good podcast or a sermon online. Play worship music! Stay away from unhealthy “web wandering” when you get bored.
Play a game. You can plan things inside and outside. Exercise is good.
Take time to read.
Overlook an offense. There will be many.
Know that someone will escalate. Be prepared to deal with it in a calm way. Let some steam get out. Give it some silence. Listen. Then be reminded of the gospel and the love of Christ for people. Start over.
This “time out” is from God for you. Don’t let the world, flesh, and devil ruin it. We are here to help. In crisis? Contact the Shepherding Department: RandyS@perimeter.org, KellyW@perimeter.org, BobC@perimeter.org.
Jesus came in the still and calm of the night.
