Alumni Spotlight: Michael Young
By: Michael young, PERIMETER SCHOOL alum and current perimeter School Dad
We recently caught up with several of our Perimeter School alumni, and we are excited to share with you how Perimeter School has influenced their stories and how God is using them for kingdom impact.
Our next alumni spotlight is Michael Young, Perimeter School Class of 2001.
What do you do? Where do you live?
I currently live in Milton with my wife, Rebekah, and our three kids. I work as the Business Development Director for Nelson Worldwide, a national architecture and interior design firm. Our daughter Eden is in first grade at Perimeter School.
How Did your time at Perimeter School influencE who you are and what you do today?
Perimeter School is such a great extension of our home! Now being a parent of a first grader at Perimeter School, I am able to see how much Perimeter School truly impacts the faith of its students.
We talk about Jesus at home and read the Bible, and at school, Eden is growing her understanding of Jesus, what He has done for us, and how much He loves us!
"If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know . . .”
If I weren’t at Perimeter School, I’m not sure I would have felt the acceptance I was given at such a young age. Our class was such a tight knit community from the very beginning, including the parents, that I never felt out of place. Perimeter School also gave me such a great foundation for my faith in Jesus that I am not sure would have been as strong elsewhere.
In what ways is the work you are doing now spiritually and culturally Significant?
It is not easy to cross faith with work in the “real” world, but I am given the opportunity every day to let people know who I am and what I believe by caring for other people and sharing with them a little bit about my faith. Every moment is an opportunity to stand out by the way you react to different situations. The more this happens and the more I listen to the Holy Spirit and act upon who I am in Him, I seem to have more opportunities to tell people about what Jesus has done for me. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to do this in my career.
Jesus came in the still and calm of the night.
