Alumni Spotlight: Whitney Whitt
By: Whitney whitt, PERIMETER SCHOOL alum
We recently caught up with several of our Perimeter School alumni, and we are excited to share with you how Perimeter School has influenced their stories and how God is using them for kingdom impact.
Our next alumni spotlight is Whitney Whitt, Perimeter School class of 1999.
What do you do? Where do you live?
I currently live in Kathmandu, Nepal and work for a Christian freedom business called Beauty for Ashes.
How Did your time at Perimeter School influencE who you are and what you do today?
My time at Perimeter School was Such a rich experience, both spiritually and educationally.
Some of my fellow classmates and their parents have become my teammates, financially supporting the work here in Nepal.
In addition, Perimeter School created a model for education that I have been able to mirror in many ways in my home with my two small children. Without the ability to homeschool, I couldn't live in the neighborhood where I live and be as involved in the community as I am able to be. The educational model I received at Perimeter School has directly impacted my ability to raise my own children overseas confidently.
"If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know . . .”
If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know that art and the love of nature are also intricately connected to my calling. I will never forget the nature walks with Mr. Scott followed by watercolor sketches in our art journals. Those simple activities have continued to impact my life as I help design for social businesses here in Nepal.
In what ways is the work you are doing now spiritually and culturally Significant?
Our business exists to help empower women and eliminate poverty in Nepal through the creation of jewelry and other fashion accessories. Our company is changing lives. We give training and jobs to those who have been exploited or marginalized. Our office environment is like a family where encouragement and prayer flow from top to bottom and back again. And we are empowering the women that work for us not only to make positive changes in their lives, but also in the lives of their families and neighbors.
God shows up in our messy places and transforms ordinary moments into holy ones.
