Faith Stronger Than Fear
By: Mary-katherine blain, perimeter school clinic Director and alumni parent
We are certainly living in most unprecedented times. As we step into a new school year with uncertainty, differing opinions, and seemingly ever-changing operating procedures, what are we to do?
I believe we are called to link arms (metaphorically), love each other well, and pray.
OUR Heart for your family
Did you know that many of us who work at Perimeter School are school parents, were school parents, or are school alumni? The devotion to our school by its faculty and staff is great and widespread.
We hope that you can see our heart for you, your students, and our school. We truly understand the challenges you are facing (and honestly, we feel as off balance as you do). But we are on our knees praying for God’s guidance and protection as we navigate this season.
We know we are asking a lot of you, but our goal is to be available and filled with God’s grace to love and support you through each day as we learn together what works and what doesn’t.
Let’s hold each other up
The Lord provides us with scripture to guide and reassure us during times of trouble …
“So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up - one on one side, one on the other - so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.”
Exodus 17:10-13
As the school year starts without the comforts of known routines, remember back to when your family was new and everything felt unsure … how quickly were your fears eased and bonds developed when covenant arms lifted yours? Let’s be like Aaron and Hur, holding each other up through confusion, frustration, and fear this year.
OUr Faith is Stronger than our fear
How lucky our covenant family is to have the most wonderful Father, Great Physician, and Perfect Teacher who loves us. We have the great assurance that our God is still on His Throne and still in control as we deal with all the confusion, contradictions, and changing goals.
This assurance allows us to be a beacon of hope to our community - displaying that our faith is stronger than our fear.
I am so grateful that we are all in this together. Perimeter School is a special place, and no pandemic, procedure, or temporary precaution will change the bonds of Christian brotherhood and sisterhood that await your family this year.
Jesus came in the still and calm of the night.
