Alumni Spotlight: Aubrey McCabe Prado
By: Aubrey mccabe prado, PERIMETER SCHOOL alum and united states air force Officer
We recently caught up with several of our Perimeter School alumni, and we are excited to share with you how Perimeter School has influenced their stories and how God is using them for kingdom impact.
Our first alumni spotlight is Aubrey McCabe Prado, Perimeter School Class of 2008.
What do you do? Where do you live?
I am currently an officer in the United States Air Force. I began my career as a pilot, and now I work in test for the United States Air Force. I am at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
How Did your time at Perimeter School influencE who you are and what you do today?
I cannot even fully put into words how much Perimeter School shaped who I am now. Most notable is the biblical foundation that the school has given me. I credit a large portion of my biblical knowledge to the variety and rigor of the program provided at Perimeter School. Given my field of work, many people are scientifically driven and staunchly atheist or agnostic. Perimeter School's commitment to a thorough biblical education and practice in apologetics has helped keep me rooted since I graduated.
"If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know . . .”
If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know the benefit of being surrounded by teachers that hold the same values as my parents. Although we do not have any children yet, my husband and I already know that we will be looking for a school for our children very similar to Perimeter School when that time does come. He went to a small, private Christian school in Texas that is very similar to Perimeter, so we both recognize the role that our schools played in influencing who we are today. The influence that teachers and classmates have on grade school students cannot be underestimated, and putting children in an environment that is a positive influence is something that is so important.
In what ways is the work you are doing now spiritually and culturally significant?
In my field of work, it is particularly important to maintain the correct frame of mind and encourage others to do the same. The military's job is war-fighting. In my job in particular, I spend much of my time testing weapon systems to ensure that they are effective. I view my job as an opportunity to save hundreds or thousands of lives in the future. I oversee a team of around 120 people, meaning that every day I have the opportunity to make 120 people's day a little bit better. Because, in my opinion, that is the best way to share Christ’s love . . . by just loving on the people around you.
Perimeter School is incredibly proud of our alumni who serve and have served in the United States Armed Forces. Through events like our Veterans Celebration and other opportunities throughout the year, we seek to honor them and pass on a sense of legacy to our students - the future leaders of our country.
This year, Perimeter School is celebrating a quarter-century of honoring veterans! Our Veterans Celebration will be Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 9:45 AM in the Perimeter Church Main Sanctuary. Invite veterans and friends! There will be a reception immediately following the program for our guests. Click here for more information.
