Perimeter School played a crucial part in stoking my desire to be impactful for the kingdom.

By: Nate Maiwald, PERIMETER SCHOOL alum

We recently caught up with several of our Perimeter School alumni, and we are excited to share with you how Perimeter School has influenced their stories and how God is using them for kingdom impact.

Our next alumni spotlight is Nate Maiwald, Perimeter School Class of 2012.

What do you do? Where do you live?

I live in Buckhead where I work as a wealth planner for a financial planning and investment advisory firm serving high-net-worth clients.

How Did your time at Perimeter School influencE who you are and what you do today?

Perimeter School helped me craft the lens through which I view the world today.

It was a safe place to ask questions about theology and the way the world works. Teachers listened carefully, and students were encouraging and thoughtful. Much of my theology and desire to serve others was shaped at Perimeter School, which I believe contributed to my love of helping people with their finances. Perimeter School put such an emphasis on service and gratitude, and now I get the chance to serve people by helping them to be generous with their money.

There is no doubt in my mind that Perimeter School played a crucial part in stoking my desire to enable others to be impactful for the kingdom.

"If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know . . .”

If it weren't for Perimeter School, I wouldn't know how comforting the body of Christ can be as a middle schooler in the midst of pain and loss.

After my dad passed away in eighth grade, my entire class and all the faculty and administration rallied behind me and provided me with so much comfort. Though what I was experiencing was difficult, I always felt like I had a safe place at Perimeter School with people who cared about my heart and spirit. I can't imagine a better group to support me when I needed it most.

In what ways is the work you are doing now spiritually and culturally Significant?

Christ spoke frequently about money - the blessings it can provide as well as the temptations. I have the opportunity to provide counsel to people on how to maximize the utility of money to benefit not only themselves, but their children, community, and ultimately the world at large.

Additionally, I am able to enter into a deeply personal relationship with clients by working with them as a financial advisor. I gain a unique insight into the factors driving their decision-making and thoughts. As a believer, this is a special opportunity to speak truth into clients' lives regarding success, money, and financial security.
